CA 125 is a glycoprotein found on the surface of cells originating from embryonic coelomic epithelium. It can be detected in ovarian cancer.

0 – 35 U/ml
Elevated CA 125 Levels May Be Found in:
- Ovarian cancer (non-mucinous type)
- Pancreatic cancer
- Lung cancer
- Gastrointestinal cancers
- Liver cancer
Other Conditions That May Show Elevated CA 125 Levels:
- Pregnancy
- Endometriosis and uterine fibroids
- Peritonitis and inflammation of abdominal organs
- Acute pancreatitis and liver cirrhosis
- Pelvic inflammatory disease
Recommendation:
It is advised to test CA 125 alongside HE 4 and calculate the ROMA score to improve the detection of ovarian cancer, especially in early stages (Stage 1).
