DNA testing to prove paternity involves comparing the genetic patterns of the child with the person claimed to be the father. A child inherits half of their DNA from the father and half from the mother. By comparing the DNA, it can be determined whether the child has inherited DNA from the person claimed to be the father.
Steps for DNA Testing to Prove Paternity:
- Collect samples from the buccal cells (cheek swab) of the alleged father and the child.
- Analyze and compare 24 DNA markers to determine paternity.
Preparation for DNA Testing to Prove Paternity:
- Schedule an appointment at least one day in advance.
- Refrain from eating food, dairy, or anything except water 30 minutes before the test.
- If the test is for legal purposes (official test), such as for government agencies or other organizations, please prepare documents such as copies of the ID cards or passports of the father and mother/guardian, and the child’s birth certificate.
Note: Results will be available within 7 working days, not including the sample collection date.
