The Gallbladder Stone Screening Program is designed to assess risk factors and detect gallstones at an early stage. Early detection allows for timely treatment planning and helps prevent serious complications. This program is recommended for individuals with risk factors or suspicious symptoms to maintain good health and reduce the likelihood of future surgery.
The program includes the following tests:
- Fasting blood sugar (FBS)
- Hemoglobin A1C (HbA1C)
- Lipid profile (cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL)
- Liver function tests (TP, albumin, globulin, total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, AST, ALT, ALP)
- Tumor marker for pancreatic, bile duct, and gallbladder cancer (CA 19-9)
Preparation before the screening:
- Fast from all food and beverages for at least 8–12 hours before the test (small sips of water are allowed).
- Avoid alcoholic beverages for at least 24 hours.
- Get adequate sleep for at least 6–8 hours before the appointment.
- You may continue taking your regular medications (please inform the staff beforehand).
- Inform the staff of any underlying medical conditions or relevant health history for proper evaluation.
- Wear clothing that allows easy access for blood collection.
