Thrombosis is a condition caused by the formation of blood clots inside blood vessels, which may lead to obstruction of major vessels such as those in the brain, heart, or legs. It is often called a “silent threat” because symptoms may not appear in the early stages, yet it can cause serious and life-threatening complications such as stroke, heart attack, or even sudden death.
The Thrombosis Screening Program is designed to assess risk factors at an early stage through blood analysis and relevant health markers. This allows for timely prevention and personalized health planning to help reduce the risk before unexpected complications occur.
Tests included in the screening program:
- ESR – Evaluation of systemic inflammation
- CBC – Complete blood count
- D-dimer – Diagnosis of venous thrombosis
- Fibrinogen level – Assessment of abnormalities in the clotting system
- PT, PTT – Measurement of blood coagulation ability
- hs-CRP – Risk assessment for coronary artery disease or inflammation
Preparation before the test:
- No fasting is required.
- Inform the physician about any symptoms such as fever, chest pain, shortness of breath, leg swelling, muscle pain, or unusual bleeding/bruising.
- Bring previous test results (if available) for comparison and evaluation.
- Disclose all current medications, especially:
- Antipyretics (e.g., paracetamol)
- Anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, aspirin)
- Statins (cholesterol-lowering drugs)
- Avoid alcohol consumption at least 24 hours before the test.
- Inform staff of any chronic conditions such as heart disease, kidney disease, or liver disease.
- Avoid strenuous exercise 24–48 hours before testing to prevent inaccurate results.
- Get adequate rest (6–8 hours of sleep).
- Wear comfortable clothing for blood collection.
