Preparation Before the Test

Fast from food and beverages for at least 8–12 hours before the test. Plain water is allowed.
Avoid alcoholic beverages for at least 24 hours before the test.
Avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours before the test.
Take your regular medications as directed by your physician. Do not stop taking any medication on your own.
Inform the staff about any medications, vitamins, or dietary supplements you are currently taking.
If you have a fever or infection, have recently recovered from an illness, or have recently received a vaccination, please inform the staff before the test.
Get adequate sleep and wear clothing that allows easy access for blood collection.
