Preparation Before the Health Checkup
- A morning appointment is recommended. Confirm the blood collection time with staff in advance.
- Contact the laboratory to confirm fasting instructions, as this panel includes serum folate and iron studies. Plain water is allowed if fasting is requested.
- Sit quietly and relax before blood collection; avoid strenuous exercise beforehand, particularly for Prolactin testing.
- Tell staff about all medicines and supplements, especially biotin/hair supplements, iron, vitamin B12, folate and hormone products, including DHEA. Follow the laboratory preparation advice.
- Do not stop or adjust prescribed medicines without your clinician’s advice. Follow your clinician’s and the laboratory’s instructions.
- Inform staff before booking if you recently received a vitamin B12 injection.
- Tell staff about relevant medical conditions, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and other relevant health history to support interpretation.
- Wear clothing that allows easy access for the blood draw.
