ฮอร์โมน - Hormone

Don’t fret. Just keep your hormone balance.

All hormone tests should be done.

Hormones are chemicals produced by a group of cells in the endocrine gland and sent through the bloodstream, then circulated to different parts of the body. Hormone analysis can be carried out in a medical laboratory by blood testing to maintain hormone balance, resulting in a decrease in the likelihood of malfunctions in the body.

Why do men need female hormones and women need testosterone tests?

  • Oestrogen is important for sexual mood, sexual performance, and sperm production, as well as affecting bone strength in men. If a man’s oestrogen level is too high, it will lead to a decrease in muscle volume, increased fat accumulation, infertility, and decreased sexual performance.
  • Testosterone also affects bone strength. The same applies to women’s muscles and sexual arousal. If a woman has too much testosterone, she may experience irregular periods, oily skin, acne, hirsutism. An ovarian cyst may develop.

What should I do for a complete hormone test?

  • Thyroid hormones (FT3, FT4, TSH) are responsible for metabolism, temperature control, and they generate energy in the body as well as affecting mood.
  • Sex hormones are responsible for developing and regulating sexual characteristics, including psychological and behavioural aspects. The decrease in sex hormones causes the elderly to have changes both mentally and physically For example, a decrease in oestrogen directly affects the occurrence of osteoporosis due to loss of balance in bone formation and its breakdown.
    • Testosterone: Testosterone is an important sex hormone for males because it serves to express masculinity characteristics. It strengthens bone mass and muscles. Low testosterone can cause infertility problems, but if it is too high, it can also have negative consequences, such as having stronger emotions.
    • Female hormones (Oestrogen, Progesterone): Oestrogen and progesterone are important hormones for women. Progesterone helps maintain the uterus in preparation for pregnancy and affects body temperature regulation, mood and sleep. Exposure to female hormone imbalance can result in irregular menstrual cycles, sleep problems, mood instability, or depression.

  • Pituitary hormones (FSH, LH), instruct the ovaries or testes to produce sex hormones.
  • Prolactin is a hormone that’s responsible for lactation, certain breast tissue development and milk production. Higher-than-normal levels of prolactin in your blood can cause certain symptoms, such as irregular periods, infertility and erectile dysfunction.
  • Adrenal hormones (DHEA-S, Cortisol) play the main role in the body’s response to various stresses, whether physical, such as illness, suppression of hormone production from herbal medicine, pot, bolus medicine, or mental, such as stress from work, or problems in everyday life until the body becomes fatigued.
  • The function of growth hormone (IGF-1, IGF-BP3) is to repair the body. Some people call them youth hormones, but due to increasing age these hormones will become less effective.
  • Parathyroid Hormone (PTH) is a hormone secreted by the parathyroid glands as a polypeptide containing 84 amino acids, while the hormone calcitonin (secreted by the thyroid gland) acts to reduce the concentration of calcium in the system.
  • The hormone insulin is responsible for regulating blood sugar levels. If the body has too high a level of insulin, it can result in insulin resistance, increasing the risk of developing metabolic diseases such as stress and pressure in daily life. Insulin is usually checked along with sugar levels on the day to analyze insulin balance and sugar levels.

When you want to check your hormones, how do you prepare before the examination?

  • There is no need to abstain from food or drink.
  • If possible, we recommend testing in the morning, around 8:00 – 10:00 a.m., as this is the time of day when cortisol and testosterone are highest.
  • You can check hormones along with your annual health checkup by fasting and following the program’s dietary recommendations.
  • In the case of women who still have their menstrual cycle and have problems with pronounced premenstrual symptoms or PMS and want to see the balance between oestrogen and progesterone taking a test is recommended around the 21st day of the menstrual cycle (counting the first day of your period as day one of the menstrual cycle).
  • If taking birth control pills or using hormone supplements you should report the history of the examination.
